The Dave vertical windlass is one of the powerhouses from Quick's new generation of windlasses. The base, capstans and sprocket cover are made externally from AISI 316 stainless steel and internally from composite to be both strong and lightweight. The chain wheels are made of chromed bronze and other components of AISI 316.

The gearbox, made in the Quick factory, is made of anodized aluminum and all motors are protected in a waterproof housing.

The Dave is equipped with the option of manual retrieval of the anchor and chain. The chain disc is also suitable for anchor line. This only applies to the models without a capstan.
